The Miracle of Your Sunny Eden™ Lab-Grown Diamond.
What Is a Diamond from Hair?
Diamond is the hardest substance and one of the most precious treasures in the world. A diamond from hair is the beautiful crystallisation of the carbon contents contained within your hair, sharing the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as natural diamonds. Every Sunny Eden™ lab-grown diamond is as unique and irreplaceable as its origin, born from an incredible journey, telling a remarkable story.
The Birth of Your Diamond.
We will examine and refine your hair to obtain pure carbon that crystallises to form diamonds. After that, your Sunny Eden™ lab-grown diamond will grow for 6-12 months at an extremely high temperature of 1,500°C (2,700°F) under ultra-high pressure (60 kbar), which is similar to the conditions beneath the earth’s mantle. Different growing settings and catalysts are used for each order, resulting in brilliantly beautiful diamonds.
The Unique and Spectacular.
Your Sunny Eden™ lab-grown diamond consists of billions of carbon atoms that make up 18% of the human body. These atoms are strongly bonded together, much like the bond you have with your loved one. Your Sunny Eden™ diamond is one-of-a-kind and irreplaceable. A diamond from your hair is created to witness the inextinguishable love between you and your better half.

How to grow the lab-made diamond from hair
-
Step 1 Hair Preparation
First, we sanitize your hair sample and analyse it to determine the carbon content. Gender, age, and hair colour have no impact on the carbon content of the sample. Typically the sample is 41-46% carbon. The sample is sealed in a disposable sample tube, then ground into a fine powder.
-
Step 2 Carbon Purification
The hair powder is placed into a high-temperature vacuum tube furnace at an average temperature of approximately 1,400°C, or 2,500°F. Oxygen is removed from the environment to ensure that the carbon does not oxidise. After this thermal process, the carbon content increases to about 97%.
-
Step 3 Graphitization
Our lab experts manually work on the sample within a fume hood. A multi-step chemical process aided by a formula of strong bases, strong acids, and organic solvents further purifies the carbon to achieve 99.9% high purity. Then, an ultra-high-temperature furnace, using controlled atmosphere and vacuum induction heating technology, turns the carbon into graphite.
-
Step 4 Crystallisation
Our high-pressure, high-temperature apparatus creates an environment similar to that of Mother Earth's mantle, at a whopping pressure of 200 atmosphere and a temperature of 2,500°C(4,500°F). Combined with the solvent catalyst, diamond seed, graphite heater, and other necessary components, the graphite grows into a carbon crystal, otherwise known as a diamond.
-
Step 5 Cutting and Polishing
Cutting and polishing are important steps for diamond manufacturing. The rough stone will be cleaved and sawed into a preliminary shape after being measured by professionals. Every detail of the process will affect the value of the final polished gem. The ultimate sparkle of the polished diamond is what Sunny Eden™ Laboratory pursues.
-
Step 6 Certification
Our GIA certification refers to the Gemological Institute of America and is an official document that guarantees the quality of the diamond you ordered. Our IGI certification refers to the International Gemological Institute, and it helps to evaluate the quality of your Sunny Eden™ diamond from an authoritative perspective.

FAQs
-
Diamonds from hair are lab-grown diamonds, which are created from hair. Diamonds are a gem made almost entirely of a single element—carbon. Meanwhile, human hair contains about 44% carbon. Using specific technology, carbon can be extracted from human hair, and the extracted carbon can be turned into diamonds.
-
It depends on how many carats you choose. The bigger the diamond is, the more grams of hair you should collect. Generally, 4 grams or a lock of hair is enough for a lab-grown diamond.
-
Diamonds have the highest grade on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. They cannot be scratched by other lower-graded minerals. However, the diamond can scratch other minerals. But, if the diamond is hit at the right place, it can also be cracked. Generally speaking, diamonds can last forever, but they should also be safely stored.
-
You can clean your diamond at home, or go to a professional jeweller for cleaning. Lint-free cloths, commercial jewellery cleaners, and household cleaners can be used to clean your diamond from hair.
-
Several grams of human hair are carbonized at a high temperature of 3200-5400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, the carbonised hair and other materials are sent into a high-temperature and high-pressure environment. In a lab-controlled environment, the natural process of a diamond formation can be replicated. In this way, we turn hair into diamonds.
-
Diamonds from hair have a very special meaning: they can witness love and symbolise a unique connection. As it is said, "diamonds are eternal,“ so is it meaningful to turn the hair of our loved ones into diamonds.
